The staff were all very friendly and helpfulnnWe loved our West-facing apartment in the Blues Wing accommodation. We found this at breakfast in the Pen, and when we had a romantic meal on the beach and also in the Blues Bar. Good quality ingredients and packed with flavour. Plenty of food choices and the meals we ate there were of a very high standard. The water was lovely and calm and clear and perfect for swimming, snorkelling and just relaxing in.nnThe bars and restaurants at Avila were great too. I am not normally a beach person, but the sand was so soft and the beach so well kept that I couldn't help but love walking on it and lazing on a lounger by the sea. We loved our time at the hotel and are certain we will return one day hopefully, not too long.nnWe loved the private beach in particular. The Avila Beach Hotel had everything you could possibly want to enjoy a romantic honeymoon or just a relaxing holiday. Then my burger with fries came without fries.

A week later decided to give it another try and my friend who ordered after me, received her food first. Ordered a chicken wrap that came without chicken. The breakfast options are limited, no potatoes. One day, the room was not cleaned, but otherwise maintenance was good. The shower has a flat floor preventing the water to go down the drain properly. The rooms have mostly European outlets and there's no indication that you can pick up a converter at the front desk. The iron stopped working and then I was given a replacement that also did not work. Not all amenities in the room worked properly. Only at check-in I signed a declaration that prohibits smoking on the balcony. It's unfair that it is not mentioned on the room description that the Blue Wing rooms (the most expensive room option for a couple) are non smoking.

The location is great but not sure that it's worth the money in comparison to other options on the island.

Over all its alright, but we expected more from a family owned property.
